Bugs . ick. i dont know whats worse(except soggy bread products). but the puirpose of this is not to put them down. so ill say good things about them(funny i accidentally said ill instead of I'll).ants are the garbage men of nature. they devour trash, dead bodies ect. flies serve no purpose that i have seen or read but to provide food for spiders. dragon flies are the fastest insect, and can go up, down, sideways, foward or backwards.Ladybugs are the beasts of the garden. they will eat all kinds of bugs that devour your plants(e.g. potatoe bugs).ummmmm...i need another bug. ant lions are damselfly(very similar to a dragonfliy)larvae who dig a small pit in the ground with slick edges so any ant that walks by will slide down the hill to the center to be devoured(i like that word, in case you couldn't tell).
Nything people want to know about? comment and i can get you Animal Info(r)! comment, or write your question in the chat box, and i will get you an answer within 48 hours(upon reading it).

Gerbils
Just so you know, gerbils are supposed to look skinny. Tuesday, I went with my dad and my brother to the pet store to buy a couple gerbils. I thought most of them looked unhealthily skinny, so i picked one that was both cute and slightly overweight. This morning, I woke up and went about my day as usual. I was in my closet and out of nowhere and heard my mom screaming for me to run in there. I walked in and almost screamed with joy. There were five baby gerbils in that cage. OK, I know you all are wondering, is this supposed to be educational? It should be. But just to make sure, I will add some gerbil fun facts: A gerbil is a desert rodent, with feet like a kangaroos giving it a hopping ability; Gerbils have pouches in their cheeks giving them the ability to carry food around in their mouths; They use their cheek pouches to hoard food in their Tunnels/Holes

Penguins

Penguins, today's topic, are creatures that can withstand temperatures hundreds of degrees below zero. These are flightless birds that can stay warm under freezing waters. They feed their babies by catching fish, chewing it up, then later spitting it into their babies mouths. They have a neat ability to "toboggan" or slide on their
stomachs because they only waddle when walking. scientists have measured the depth of their dives and discovered they are incredible at it. In a single dive a emperor penguin can reach depths of 1600 feet. when the colonies(large groups of penguins) go fishing, they stand at the edge of a cliff over looking the water and push until one falls. If that penguin isn't hurt, they know there aren't any predators in the water.
Fun Facts:Some Penguins can travel 75 miles over frozen sea-mostly by tobogganing; The breed of penguins known as Little Penguins are also known as Fairy Penguins.
Quiz time!!!!
Q1:How deep can Emperor penguins dive?
Q2:How do penguins feed their young?

Monarch Butterflies Migration
Monarch Butterflies. This isn't an animal that is really big to most people, but last night I saw a documentary on nova about them. they travel over two thousand miles from Canada to mexico and endure many hardships along the way. Once they reach Texas they start to form one giantic flock. Once they reach Mexico, they follow the Sierra Nevada Mountains for over 400 miles. When they reach their destination, a forest in those mountains, they cling in large groups to the trees for warmth all winter. At the end of the winter, they go back to Texas breed, and die. Their offspring do the same going north, bac to where the first ones came from. Up to four generations later, the migration begins again. This is what makes up one of the greatest stories of migration in the world. The people of the mexican village near where the butterflies go make almost all the money they get all year round from festivals celebrating the arrival of the butterflies. This makes this animal a very interesting, incredible one, especially for it's size. If you want to see a cool picture of them staying warm on a tree branch, go to http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/butterflies/dire-06.html .

Apes
Today's Animal is Apes. Gorillas are the most famous animal in the ape family. They live in groups called troops. A troop can have up to 34 gorillas. There are 5 animals in the ape family. gorillas, chimpanzees, orangutans, bonobos, and gibbons. All except the Gibbons are in a group called Great Apes. The gibbons are in a group called Lesser Apes. Today there are only 400,000 Great Apes, while in the mid 1800's there were millions. Gorillas are the largest Great Apes,Gibbons being the smallest ape. While most apes walk on their knuckles, gibbons walk on their feet. Here are some fun facts:Until the mid-1800's Europeans didn't know gorillas existed; Scientists don't think gorillas can swim; Instead of fighting over territtory, gibbons find it, and sing to claim it; Chimpanzees eat mainly fri=uits and leaves But they will also hunt and eat large animals, including wild pigs.
